Antique Oak Revolving Bookcase with Folding Reading Shelf

£350.00

A particularly attractive and increasingly hard-to-find antique oak revolving bookcase, dating from the early 20th century.

Crafted in solid oak, this well-proportioned example features open slatted sides, a richly figured grain and an elegant rope-twist moulded edge to the top. The bookcase revolves smoothly on its original castors, allowing easy access to books and magazines from all sides.

One of its most unusual and appealing features is the fold-down reading shelf to one side, which provides a practical angled surface for displaying or reading an open book. This thoughtful detail adds both functionality and character, and is a feature seldom encountered on similar revolving bookcases.

The interior is arranged with multiple fixed shelves, offering ample storage for books, magazines or vinyl records. Compact enough to fit comfortably in a living room, study or bedroom, it combines practicality with strong decorative appeal.

Revolving bookcases have long been admired for their ingenious design and efficient use of space, and examples incorporating a reading stand are considerably rarer than standard models.

The bookcase has been carefully cleaned and polished and is presented in excellent vintage condition, with only minor age-related wear consistent with its age and use.

A highly versatile and distinctive piece of antique furniture, equally suited to traditional and contemporary interiors.
