Large Extendable Rosewood Coffee table by Johannes Andersen
Large Extendable Rosewood Coffee table by Johannes Andersen
An elegant Danish modern coffee table designed by Johannes Andersen and produced by Silkeborg Møbelfabrik in the 1960s.
Crafted from richly figured Brazilian rosewood, the table showcases a beautifully book-matched top with deep, flowing grain patterns that give the piece a striking natural character. Andersen’s sculptural approach is evident in the finely tapered legs and the distinctive organic joint detailing where the legs meet the underside of the top – subtle yet refined elements that elevate the design.
A cleverly integrated extending tray on one side, and extending rosewood shelf on the other, slides smoothly from beneath the tabletop, providing additional surface space when required. This practical feature makes the piece particularly versatile, equally suited to everyday use or entertaining.
Due to international regulations surrounding Brazilian rosewood, the table is supplied with the appropriate certification allowing legal sale.
A refined and highly functional example of mid-century Danish design.
Very good vintage condition with minor age-related marks consistent with use.
