Rosewood Midcentury Drawers by Nils Johnsson for Torring MobelFabrik
Rosewood Midcentury Drawers by Nils Johnsson for Torring MobelFabrik
A beautifully refined and exceptionally scarce rosewood chest of drawers designed by Nils Jonsson for the Danish manufacturer Tørring Møbelfabrik.
While this model is well-documented in teak, rosewood examples are notoriously hard to find, produced in much smaller numbers and rarely appearing on the UK market.
The piece showcases a dramatic, bookmatched Brazilian rosewood grain to the top and drawer fronts, with deep, linear recess pulls that are characteristic of Jonsson’s most elegant designs. The warm tone, ink-dark figuring and clean, tapered leg profile all point to the workshop’s premium production line — a level of craftsmanship that helped define Danish modern furniture in the 1960s.
Inside, each drawer runs smoothly and offers generous storage, with the internal build quality consistent with Torring’s reputation for precision joinery. A discreet stamp sits on the underneath of one drawer, confirming its authenticity.
Very good vintage condition. Minimal signs of age to the case and legs, and the veneer presents beautifully throughout with only light surface wear consistent with careful use. Structurally strong, clean, and ready to use.
